About Me

"The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everybody else." Umberto Eco

"Prose is architecture, not interior decoration." Ernest Hemingway

Thank you for visiting my website.

Kate Dana is a pseudonym that I use when I write.

I live in California and was born and raised here in The Golden State. I want to transplant myself to Denver or Ft. Collins Colorado, however.

I began writing at an early age, composing poetry and short stories, but never sharing them with the world, until now. When I wasn’t writing I was much like Catherine Morland of Northanger Abbey, I had my nose in a book and my head in the clouds. Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice where my favorites when I was in high school.

I went on to collage to land a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration at California State University-Fresno. I did plenty of writing in college, but never had time for my creative writing.

I now work for a Federal Government Agency where I devote myself to serving the American public. I would tell you what agency, but I promised them I would keep my working persona separate from my writing persona.

I am hard at work on my first novel, which centers on Colonel Fitzwilliam (of Pride and Prejudice) and my heroine Lady Grace MacKenna. I am also at work on other projects centering on Jane Austen’s other characters.
